I think one of the hardest things to do is start a blog. That's why I'm here; to start something. This blog is about all things lifestyle such as drinks, food, fashion and health. If you read my welcome note (which you probably didn't) you would know I am on a mission. I want to share. My goal with the blog is to share what I have learned, and indeed am still learning about. Sounds rough right?
Not really. Underpinning all my ramblings is the concept of hedonism, a philosophy which eschews the pursuit of pleasure (more on that later). There are many aspects to pleasure, but eating, drinking, and other (ahem!) things are part of it. Health and exercise too. With a good dose of narcissism. My experience with all things pleasurable has been a mixed bag of results. And I don't like that. I want to have my cake and eat it too. Don't you? My mission then, is to hack the science and experience behind this. So here is the philosophy behind the 4 parts of this blog. They are ranked in no particular order.
Life without drinks would be boring. Is that wrong? I don't know. But I am a lover of whisky, cocktails, beer, wine, gin, rum, etc, etc. The Romans believed "In Vinas Veritas" or in wine there is truth. Sounds reasonable. As a long time bartender and connoisseur of all things alcoholic, I can attest to this. Good drinking is one of the pleasures in life. Notice that the word "good" has nothing to do with "how much". We will explore.
Food is another big aspect of pleasure. The real question is how do we keep a gourmet attitude but still eat healthy. BIG QUESTION (That's why the all caps). I will post recepies, research and other things related to food. The very sad truth is we cannot eat whatever we want, whenever we want. The goal here is to find a balance. However, I believe there is hope.
This one is a bit trickier. It relates to exercise. Afterall, with good food and drink, everyone must pay the piper. Or get fat. Your choice. Exercise is a science. You can even get a degree in it. So if its science, it can be hacked. Using myself as a crash test dummy, I will share my experiences and best results of my research into this subject. Prepare to sweat. But for a good cause.
This one is a bit tougher. Cause fashion isn't enough. These posts will be about dressing up and taking care of one's physical appearance. Normally this is achieved in the privacy of one's home, but I will put it out there. Tips about dressing and other factors that increase your charisma, And looks. You needn't worry about the way you look now. Or me for that matter. There is always hope.
